LOOKING FOR A JOB?

There are a number of places to look but one place I have found to be of timely assistance to me has been the Temporary Employment Agencies! They have saved my bacon many times in-between regular jobs over the years......well...rather it was God that hooked me up via that particular agency at the right moment! God has a way of connecting the dots at just the right time. I actually worked for a period of years straight through temporary agencies.

My first solid job here in California I landed by way of a temporary agency and ended up getting hired on as a permanent employee and worked for that company for about 8 years total until they re-engineered the company so that they no longer exist in my city.

So I highly recommend looking in the phone book or online and signing up for as many temporary agencies as you can! I recommend getting on their availability list each week. The more they remember your name and phone number and see your face the more chances you will be the one they call first as soon as they have an opening that needs your skills.

You may have entry level skills or you may be a highly qualified proffessional such as an Accountant ...there are agencies to fit your needs...but a job is a job in the mean time!

I would also recommend taking all the skills tests that you can! If you haven't taken the test you won't usually be considered for the job even if that particular skill is listed on your resume. Take the test! The good thing about that is that most temp agencies will let you take the tests as often as you need to so you can improve your scores! Most have free tutorials either in the office or online that you can access for training on software etc then you can take the test and pass and then you will be considered for that type of work such as Excel, Word or whatever. So you can actually sign up with many of them without much skill at all and just take the free online or in house training tutorials and actually learn the skill and then take the test and be qualified!

There are classes on how to find a job and prepare for an interview if you feel you might need them....if you have trouble finding a job then I recommend you attend one of these classes at an employment center. I have previously worked in a county employment center and they have excellent resources and training available!

Let me say one thing about dress code.....DON'T EVEN APPLY UNLESS YOU CAN DRESS NEAT, CLEAN AND BUSINESS CASUAL....it doesn't matter if you are just looking for a labor or warehouse job! The only exception to the rule of dressing business casual may be Labor only Agencies such as "Labor Ready". Yet if you have business casual clothes I still recommend you wear them to the interview. Your First impression is EVERYTHING! I am amazed at how many people I have seen come to an INTERVIEW for an office job, or come into a proffessional office to fill out an application in Jeans and tennis or worse....tattered clothes... shirt hanging out etc.....and please if you dress business casual...slack,pants,skirt....wear business casual shoes...NOT TENNIS!....that is if you really want a job. Ladies I recommend you dress modest and proffessional as well. You have to understand the economy is tough and lots of people are looking for work and you need to stand out among the many! When you earn your first million....you can dress however you want...YOU will set the next trend or new style for our teens......but you might want to wait till then! :)

Some of the temporary agencies that I recommend are:

Office Team
Accounttemps
Addecco
Act 1
Cornerstone
Talenttree
Labor Ready
Man Power
Nelston Staffing

I have personally worked for most of them....even.. God forbid..."Labor Ready" lol

Labor ready usually doesn't pay much but they usually do pay daily...so it's cash for the day! I've worked for them in a pinch doing cleanup....and delivery etc......thank God even for Labor ready. I have also known people that have landed full time jobs through labor ready! They don't usually have many office type jobs like my skills need but they do have a number of unskilled labor jobs as well as high skill labor jobs that do pay a lot more! So it all depends on what your needs and skills are.

Hey...a job is a job when you don't have one right???? Thank God for what you do have!

I wish you all well and hope that helps someone out there! I will post more ideas later...and for you business minded folks that prefer to do your own thing and have your own business....I have some ideas that I will toss your way so keep posted!...no pun intended ha ha

May God richly bless and prosper you and get you connected to what you need!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
